About Ken Allen
In the early 90's, way back when the prevailing refrigerants were R12, R22, and R502, and Ken was still in high school, he worked a summer job with Morris Refrigeration in Emporia, VA. Bob (Boss) and Keith Morris taught him about refrigerants and refrigerant cycles, about steam one-pipe and two-pipe systems, about electrical wiring. Duct design, piping design, brazing, purging, and vacuum pumps were all discussed.
Mechanical and Refrigeration Engineer at-heart and by training, Ken has worked for some major manufacturers of HVAC/R products since 1997, including Dometic, Hill Phoenix, and Super Radiator Coils. His experience includes Consulting Engineering, Product Line Engineering Manager, Refrigeration Research Engineer, and Sales Application Engineer. He has eight US patents that are related to the HVAC/R industry, as well as several patents in foreign countries. He has an article on natural refrigerants published in Accelerate magazine. He has recently gone out on his own to become an Independent Manufacturer's Representative and industry consultant.
